Delete your account
How to delete your Capture Ski account and the data linked to it, or only some of it. Capture Ski is the ski app made by Capture Studio (Capture Studio Ltd), which is responsible for your data.
1.Delete your account in the Capture Ski app
Steps
- Open the Capture Ski app and sign in.
- Go to your Profile (tap your photo on the Home screen, then My Profile).
- Tap Settings (the gear icon).
- Tap Privacy & GDPR.
- Under Your rights, tap Delete my account.
- Tap Schedule deletion to confirm.
You have 30 days to change your mind. Your account is scheduled for deletion 30 days after you ask, and we email a confirmation, with the date, to your account's email address. To cancel, go back to Settings › Privacy & GDPR and tap Cancel deletion any time before the date in that email. After that date the deletion cannot be undone.
When the 30 days end, erasure starts automatically. It normally finishes within hours; a very large account can take a further day or two.
Want a copy first? In the same screen, Export my data emails you a zip of what we hold about you.
On the web
You can do the same in the web rider portal at capture-ski.app: sign in, open Account Settings, and under Your data choose Delete account. The same 30-day grace period applies, and you can cancel there too.
If you cannot open the app
Email info@capture-studio.app from the email address on your Capture Ski account and ask us to delete it. We reply within one month, and we may ask you to confirm the account is yours before we act, so that we never delete someone else's account by mistake.
2.Delete some of your data without deleting your account
- A camera clip — sign in to the web rider portal at capture-ski.app, open the clip and choose Delete this clip. This removes the video, its thumbnails and share images, and the clip's record (trick name, score and coaching tips).
- A Coach my clip video — in the app, open the Media tab, open the clip under Coach my clip and tap Delete. If you are the rider in it, it is deleted for both of you, with its coaching tip and any share link. If you filmed it for a friend, the button says Delete my copy: your copy goes and the rider keeps theirs.
- A ride — the app does not have a button to delete a single ride yet. Email info@capture-studio.app from your account's email address with the date of the ride, and we will delete it, with its location and motion samples. We reply within one month.
- Your app usage log — switch off Share usage stats in Settings › Privacy & GDPR. We delete the usage events we hold and your usage summary, and the app discards any still waiting on your phone.
- Being findable by friends — switch off Let friends find me in Settings › Privacy & GDPR. This deletes the stored hashes of your email address and phone number.
- Your emergency contact — in Settings › Safety check-in, switch Enable check-in off and tap Save. The contact is removed from your account.
3.What is deleted
When erasure runs, we delete everything linked to your account, including:
- Your account and profile — name, email address, phone number, rider handle, profile photo — and your sign-in, which is removed last.
- Your rides — GPS location samples, motion samples, ride statistics, personal bests, ride days and trips.
- Your camera clips — the videos, thumbnails and share images, and each clip’s trick name, score and coaching tips.
- Coach my clip videos you are the rider in (deleted for you and the friend who filmed them), and your copy of any you filmed for a friend (the rider keeps theirs).
- Your friends, blocks, friend requests and crews, including the rows other riders hold about you, and your activity in your friends’ Games feeds.
- Your challenges, daily missions, effort points, zone-game records and leaderboard placements.
- Your live-location broadcasts, location pins, Bluetooth beacon observations, emergency contact, invite links, notifications and push tokens.
- Your app usage events and usage summary, your anti-abuse counters, and your data-export bundles and their download links.
- On the phone you asked from, the app’s feature-tips record is deleted as soon as you ask.
4.What we keep, and for how long
A few records survive account deletion, with your name, email address and anything you wrote removed:
| What we keep | What is left in it | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Audit-log records of sensitive actions (for example friend-finder searches) | An account identifier, the action and the time. Your name and email address are removed | We have not yet set an end date on these pseudonymised records |
| Escalations you raised to our on-call team | Kept with your name and contact details removed | As the audit log |
| The record that you asked us to delete your account | An account identifier, the status and the dates. Your email address and any reason you gave are removed | Retained, as our proof that the deletion was asked for and done |
| A report you made about a Coach my clip video | The report, without the link to your account | Kept as a moderation record |
| Usage erasure marker | Your account identifier and two dates, so our nightly usage job cannot re-create your usage summary while your account is being deleted | 100 days after deletion |
| Records we must keep by law (for example accounting records, or an incident report) | What the law requires | For the period the relevant law requires |
We keep the audit log because it is our security record: if deleting an account also deleted the log of what was done with it, deletion would become a way to destroy the evidence of misuse. Some data is not linked to your account and expires on its own: Google Cloud server logs after 30 days, and crash reports after 90 days. Totals that hold no account identifier — daily usage totals, and the impression counts sponsors see — stay as they are.
